The band was formed in 1992 with Axl Maesschalck on drums and
Ward Jansen on guitar and vocals. This was the year they
bought their instruments. The band's name changed from Awake to Awakened to
Sacrament and finally into Sacramental Awakened. They first started
out rehearsing in Axl's bedroom, leaving them barely enough space to breath.
About a year after the start of the band they could persuade Steven Vits to join
them, leaving him no alternative to buy a bass guitar. In 1993 the band recruted a
lead guitarist. This was Jan Verschaeren who was a big Slayer fan, which
he did not hide in the way he played guitar. This was the year Sacramental started giving shows. Two
years later
Jan left the band, sold his guitar and started making house music on his computer. (Talk about a radical change!)
In 1996 the band finally found a new lead guitarist in Kristof Vandewoude, who was an educated guitarist.
All went well until Krikke decided to focus more on jazz and alternative emo-metal. This resulted in him leaving
the band in 1998. A few months after this event the origanal band members recorded their first
demo cd, called Separate. The band's music is evolving in a more harmonic and
dark aggressive sound.
By September 2001, Jochen has joined the band as the new guitarist.
In May 2002 Steven left the band to focus on other things. A replacement was
found in Sven who started to play with the band from June 2002.
